A Quick Color Sketch

Here is a quick color sketch I did yesterday. Im still working this composition out on paper as well.

I;m glad to see somebody else who likes to carefully sketch their paintings out in graphite as well. I do that before I start the color version. It really helps me to think through the whole piece. This is a nice painting, and I also like the one you did right out of high school! wow!

Hey Katherine,

Thank you, Yeah, I love starting in graphite, believe it or not I draw mostly with a Pentel 0.5 lead mechanical pencil. Sometimes Ill use the 0.7 or 0.9 leads. Its upsetting that Pentel keeps changing there pencil designs, the old ones from around 1995 were the best. I bought as many as I could find back then, and Im so glad I did. Ill have to post some pics of the old ones and a couple of Pentels new designs that are just ok.
